| In spite of school closings and the entire project team working from their homes, we've made progress in many areas of the project: Platform: We have the systems and infrastructure for our Development/Test Environment and installed the new data management tools.
Unique ID: Did you know that we are rolling out a new Unique ID system, one that will be used to uniquely identify Students and Staff? One too that will automatically send the new IDs to your SIS? We have loaded all the STARS IDs into the new system and are in the process of using the new unique ID tools to look for duplicate IDS among our existing students. Staff IDs will be generated by the new system next and then, we will integrate with the new NM PED licensure System. Data Profile: The interface from your Student Information Systems (SIS) to PED uses a standard interface called the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) to define the data that your SIS will send to PED. All of the SIS Vendors use this format, but it does need some configuration specific to NM. The SIS Vendors need our specifics for the “data profile". We have been working with our vendor to turn our STARS templates into the SIF Data specification used by the SIS to send data. We expect to finalize the data profile document early next month; next it will go to all the SIS Vendors for their review. Connections: We have data flowing successfully from our two pilot districts Albuquerque Public Schools (Synergy) and Los Alamos Public Schools (PowerSchool). This was very exciting to see the data flowing into the Operational Data Store (ODS) where in the future the rules engine will validate the data in real time. Still more work to do on the connections as we apply changes being discovered in the data profile exercise above. We are currently planning a third pilot connection to a Charter or District with the Tyler SIS. Working with the pilots is very important as it helps us shake out the exact process we will use for the remaining Districts and Charter Schools.
